Hello Just so I understand, and can maybe be of assistance, the Group for this one member has read-only access, or the other users have read-only access to this Group object? Regards Ken From: Ironoak <[hidden email]> To: [hidden email] Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2011 4:34:30 AM Subject: [eGroupWare-users] ACL Calendar Hi, I'm having some trouble with ACL. The scenario Created a group with one member whom has all the rights. I then gave everyone else "read" rights to the group, but they can still do everything write, read and delete. Why?? /Ironoak -- View this message in context: http://egroupware.219119.n3.nabble.com/ACL-Calendar-tp3280708p3280708.html Sent from the egroupware-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EMC VNX: the world's simplest storage, starting under $10K The only unified storage solution that offers unified management Up to 160% more powerful than alternatives and 25% more efficient. Hi.
It's rather dangerous to mix and mingle user and group permissions. It's better to use groups only. Ie. make a group [users] and a group [admins] give full access to [admins] and read only access to [users] assign your one user to [users] and [admins] and all the other users to group [users] That should give you a nice and simple setup. Please note that all users will then be able to read the group [users] calendars or whatever element of egroupware you set up and admins will have full access. This setup is simple because you can add users in the future and make then simply members of [users] and they will automatically be equipped with all rights. It's easier than to manage a bunch of users, rather simply a single group. That's the idea of groups. Cheers, Ingo On Wed, 24 Aug 2011 14:13:40 Ironoak wrote: > The one member has all the right. Hi
It's easier to create a group if there is more than 1 user who should have the same permissions. Then, set to these group the permissions. eg: group1 with user1 -> this user can read/write/delete... group2 with user2 & user3 -> these users should read group1 calendars -> so, go to the settings of group1 into the calendar ACL and click on reed by group2 -> save now, the members of group2 should have read access to group1s calendar should user3 have write access on group1s calendar, enable write access to the user or create a new group and set r/w access in group1s calender to the new group.
