Take inventory issue

Hello again Nathan,

I'm testing perp as a second tool on a live enviroment and we are being having one important issue whit take inventory. First let me tell you something about my business in order you undestand what it's happening.

We have 3 shifts A from 8AM to 4PM, B from 4PM to 12AM and C from 12AM to 8AM.

We take the inventory once a day at the beginning of A shift, aprox 8:30AM.

Each empolyee have to report what they sell on one sales order at the end of their shift, so A shift reports at 4:15PM, B shifts reports at 12:15AM and C shift reports at 8:15AM. After capture the sales order, they have to ship all the packages just for update the inventory count.

So for example, lets say we have 10 pepsis at the begining, so employee on shift A takes first inventory and update counting (January 1st). No pepsis where sold during the day until shift C that sells 5 pepsis. Employee on shift C captures sales order and make the ship at 12:15AM (January 2nd). Employee on shift A takes inventory at 8:30AM (January 2nd), the new sheet looks like this:

Sheet Number   Localization   Stock Code   Description   Expected   Counted   Difference

2                           Dorada           Bebidas-1           Pepsi           10               5               -5

And the message: Inventory counts have change by -5 since counted started.

If the employee on shift A make the count and let the 5 on counted (the right number because that it's the amount of pepsis reamining on stock) and click on Make Changes, 5 extra pepsis are substracted from stock and as a result the Pepsi stock becomes 0.

After searching around for the cause of this I discover that on click on Take Inventory, the expected quantity it's calculating using the date selected at 12:00 AM, even the Counted quantity it's calculating using the date selected at the hour that the sheet it's generating.

At this time we found a temporary workaround adding to the counted quantity the quantity display on the message but it's really dificult because some times we have diferences on 15 or 20 items.

Could you please make the Expected quantity calculate using the same time that the Counted quantity? Thanks in advance.

It'll take me a day or two to get set up to test this.
I have a few potential solutions, one you can try right away.
1.  If you're a developer or comfortable poking around, load the
template 'perp_inventory.count_new' in the eTemplate editor.  Double
click on the date, change its type from Date to Date+Time and save.
Any new counts you start should have the correct date and time, which
should follow through the count process.

2.  I can make a check to see if the date is today's date, and if so
use the current time, otherwise use midnight on the date selected.

If you try #1, please let me know if that works for you, it's probably
the most up-front about what's happening.

Nathan

Rev. 4147 should fix that for you.
You will normally see this message if inventory moves between when you
start the count and when you finish the count.  With the time
corrected, it shouldn't be showing up for you too often.
